Judge's Comments
Dramatic cloudy sky, bouncing gondolas with covers to protect them from the elements, and a view of Venice from the distance provide a very different take on Venice from the normal city of sun and tourism.
Each of the three main elements here works very well together to provide this alternative view.
Compositionally this is a very different image to many. It does not comply with many of the norms of composition especially the rule of thirds and demonstrates that rules are there to be broken. It works totally and provides a great image.
