Judge's Comments

A striking contrast between the blue and white sky and the colour of the straw provides a balance that, to me, is very pleasing to the eye.

A well exposed, very sharply focused bale provides the interest for the foreground of this shot and then the eye is gently taken into the distance from left to right as the other bales become more and more out of focus emphasising the extent of these fields.

A beautifully bright summer's day is emphasised by the blue sky that is so bright it becomes white to the right of the image creating a haze on the hills in the far distance.
