Photo Competition Terms And Conditions

Additional Information

  1. The competition is open to all serving and retired members of the Police Service and their families. (Including but not limited to, Police Officers, Police Staff, PCSO's, Special Constables and Met Volunteers). Proof of eligibility may be requested.

  2. This competition is not open to directors, employees, and contractors or anyone closely associated with the 'Friendly Society', or their family members or professional or semi professional photographers (defined as someone earning more than 10% of their income from photography related activities).

  3. If you take pictures of children (under the age of 16) you must have written permission from their parents. This written permission must then be sent in prior to the closing date of the competition.

  4. Entrants under 16 are welcome, but they must obtain written permission from a parent or guardian before entering.

  5. You must provide the 'Friendly Society' with your name, work address / location (home address if retired or a family member), telephone number and email address if you wish to enter this competition. The 'Friendly Society' will only use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not provide them to anyone else.

  6. Please note: We prefer images to be submitted electronically, any pictures submitted by post can not be returned.

  7. Entrants submitting digital files using email should print and keep a copy of the email with all necessary details added.

  8. A maximum of two entries per category per person will be accepted (8 in total), each entry should have a title, description and location (if applicable) and you should also state what category it is being entered in to. Your entry must be entirely your own original work, not defame anybody nor breach any copyright and must not have been previously published.

  9. The photographic image must not be subject to manipulation (other than brightness, contrast and colour correction). The judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity. Please retain the original digital file/negative for reference; it may be required to prove that it is your own work.

  10. The 'Friendly Society' does not accept any responsibility for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries due to the Internet or postal service. Proof of posting or transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.

  11. The 'Friendly Society's' decision is final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into.

  12. The 'Friendly Society' reserve the right to publicly display all entries and to publish any images to promote us and/or the photography competition. Copyright will remain with the photographer. You agree to your name and location being published in relation to your photograph online and in all media and you agree to take part in any competition publicity if asked to do so.

  13. It is the entrant's responsibility to ensure that all the necessary permissions are obtained from people featured in a photograph.

  14. The 'Friendly Society' reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in their opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of their control.

  15. Prizes unclaimed after 30 days will be deemed to have been forfeited and the 'Friendly Society' reserve the right to offer the prize to another entrant.

  16. By entering the competition, entrants will be deemed to have understood the above rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when entering the competition.

  17. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

  18. This competition is administered by the Metropolitan Police Friendly Society ('Friendly Society').
