2013 Competition

The theme for this year is City Life.

We would encourage everyone to have a go! The competition is open to all current and former members of the police service, including police staff and volunteers, and their families (see 2013 Rules).

You are permitted to enter a maximum of 2 images. Images can be landscape or portrait in orientation.

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes of £500, £300 and £200 respectively.

The competition will open on the 1st of June for entries.

The competition will close at midnight on the 31st October 2013.

1. The competition is open to all serving and retired members of the Police Service and their families. (Including but not limited to, Police Officers, Police Staff, PCSO's, Special Constables and Met Volunteers). Proof of eligibility may be requested.
   
   
2. This competition is not open to metfriendly directors, employees, and contractors or their family members or professional or semi-professional photographers (defined as someone earning more than 10% of their income from photography related activities).
   
   
3. The competition is limited to photos that do not picture any clearly identifiable individuals under the age of 18 years. By submitting a photo, the photographer is confirming that he or she has verified that any individuals featured in the image are aged 18 years or over.
   
   
4. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd of £500, £300 and £200 respectively.
   
   
5. You must provide metfriendly with your name, work address / location (home address if retired or a family member), telephone number and email address if you wish to enter this competition. metfriendly will use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not provide them to anyone else. We may from time to time use it to inform you by letter about any products and services which may be of interest to you, unless you ask us not to do so (not applicable to entrants who are under 18 years).
   
   
6. Images should be JPG/JPEG in format with a max resolution of 4924 * 4924 and a file size of 8MB. They should be submitted electronically using the upload facility. Any pictures submitted by post can not be returned, they will be scanned and included in the online galleries.
   
   
7. A maximum of two entries per category per person will be accepted. Your entry must be entirely your own original work, not defame anybody nor breach any copyright and must not have been previously published for financial gain.
   
   
8. metfriendly does not accept any responsibility for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries due to the Internet or postal service. Proof of posting or transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt.
   
   
9. metfriendly's decision is final in every situation and no correspondence will be entered into.
   
   
10. metfriendly reserve the right to publicly display all entries and to publish any images to promote us and/or the photography competition and you agree to your name being published in relation to your photograph. Only moderated watermarked images will be featured in the online gallery. Copyright will remain with the photographer.
    
    
11. metfriendly reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in their opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of their control.
    
    
12. By entering the competition, entrants will be deemed to have understood the above rules and accepted them and agree to be bound to them when entering the competition.
    
    
13. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
    
    
14. This competition is administered by the Metropolitan Police Friendly Society ('metfriendly').
